Take a walk down memory lane with our Kaju Katli without the guilt that comes after, because our Kaju Katli is actually healthier since it’s free from the health hazards of dairy. Ingdredients: Cashews, Jaggery, Vegan Ghee Background: Barfi gets its name from the Persian word “barf” which suggests snow since Barfi is comparable to ice/snow in look. This sweet is historically made up of milk, cream and sugar – all of which contribute to a decline in short-run and long-run health and is thus not utilized in our product. Barfi is typically of a white or creamy colour and incorporates a thick sweet texture. It always comes in a number of forms namely Kaju (cashew) Barfi/Katli, Pista Barfi, Besan (gram flour) Barfi, Khoya Barfi (made with buffalo milk), Coconut Barfi and even Chocolate Barfi! Barfi is coated with a skinny layer of edible argentiferous leaf, called varakh made from silver or gold leaf. Traditionally these were pounded in books made from buffalo intestines, but recent notifications by the Government of India makes it illegal to make varakh in these intestines. Instead, varakh is made on machines, and we at Meethi Kahani ensure that the varakh we use is certified vegan.
